The coils are arranged to produce 3phase ac. Each phase has 3 coils wired in series.
The 2A weighs only about 165kg and the newer larger 2B about 225kg. The vertical head will add quite a bit more weight. I get the vested interest here of having a milling machine to use in sheffield as well as a compensation package if I make him one. Fixed head would be easy, don't think I would have too many issues making one of them.

I don't know if it is worth the effort, but maybe (hopeful) it is somewhere available. If something like this is available, I would appreciate it if I can get access to the plans.
